Arsenal have discussed a January loan move for Juventus forward Fernando Llorente.

Despite his side's excellent start to the season, Arsene Wenger remains keen to sign a new striker.

And the Gunners are closely monitoring the Spain striker's situation in Turin ahead of a swoop at the start of next year.

Arsenal scouts have watched Llorente extensively in recent seasons and Wenger is a fan of the centre forward.

Llorente joined Juventus from Athletic Bilbao in the summer, but has struggled to get in the team ahead of Carlos Tevez.

And Arsenal are keen to take advantage of the situation by striking a temporary deal with Juve for the 28-year-old.

Llorente has lost his place in the Spain squad and knows he must be playing regularly to ensure his place in Vicente Del Bosque World Cup plans.

And the opportunity of first-team football at the Emirates Stadium is likely to appeal to Llorente.

Meanwhile, Wenger has dropped a huge hint that he is ready to sign a new contact with Arsenal.

Sportsmail revealed last week how the club were set to open formal talks over a new three year deal, worth 8million-per-season.

Wenger's existing deal expires at the end of the season and majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has placed on record how keen he is for Wenger to stay.

And the Frenchman has suggested he is keen to finish his career in England.

'I can see the rest of my life in England, why not?,' he said.

'I feel comfortable in this country because we share a common passion for football and as well I am very thankful for this country for having accepted me and giving me a chance. I am happy on the football pitch.'

Arsenal attacking midfielder Santi Cazorla has stepped up his training following an ankle injury.

The Spaniard has missed over a month with the problem, but it is hoped the playmaker will be available for the visit of Norwich on October 19.

While Juventus are still in the CL he is going nowhere.

Wenger nearly had the tall striker signed last season, but Llorente went to Juventus. This would be a good fit because while Llorente has not played much, he is also in shape and healthy with no knocks on him. Both Wenger and Llorente keep tabs on each other and now would be a could time to add him to Arsenal while they are on a tear. From what I've heard from Spanish Arsenal fans is that Llorente would be a great fit.

Not an Arsenal fan but i do like the way they play their football. Having watched Llorente in La liga and the Europa League closely i can definitely vouch for him being an Arsenal player and decent fit. The only issue i see is that he hasn't played a lot of minutes over the last year(he was used mostly as a sub in his last season with bilbao and now Juve). Wenger will need to help him get his groove back.

Can't wait for the Norwich game, we finally get to see Ozil and Santi play together

Be a good acquisition, he can certainly score.

He was predatory one year ago in the Europa league, and I was surprised no prem club came in for him then.

Not too sure how many games he would get at Juventus each season. He would defo get 40+ appearances at Arsenal, whether he'd want to move again after such a short stay or not is another thing.

oooh no..... no more budget players please, don't go back to that Sir. Just one more fantastic Striker and Right back.

Price is not always the best indication of quality, see Fernando Torres as living breathing proof.

Have you seen the size of this lad. He's a beast! I think it would be a good signing

Such a shame that he can't get into the juve side ATM tevez giovinco and quag are doing the job
