Chelsea have turned their attention to Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski as Jose Mourinho looks for a man to lead the line.

Mourinho is unconvinced by Fernando Torres and Demba Ba and wants another front man to compete with youngster Romelu Lukaku and new 18million signing Andre Schurrle - who will mainly be used out wide.

Lewandowski is looking to engineer a move away from the Champions League finalists but Dortmund are determined not to sell to Bayern Munich, who remain the Pole's preferred choice.

The 24-year-old's representatives have contacted Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona as well as Bayern over a potential 25m move.

Dortmund would be loath to sell to Bayern after the German champions activated wonderkid Mario Gotze's 32m release clause last month.

Last week the club's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke told Bild: 'Robert Lewandowski will definitely not make the switch to FC Bayern in 2013. That's final. We have informed Robert and his agents now.'

Striking options: Lewandowski could be seen as a cheaper option to Cavani (left) while Schurrle may play wide

That could open the door for Chelsea, who are making slow progress with their attempts to drive down the 54m asking price for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

Cavani is a long-term target of Chelsea's, but Mourinho is a big fan of Lewandowski's having watched him score four against his Real side in the Champions League semi-final.

Chelsea also remain keen on Zenit St Petersburg forward Hulk, but Manchester United do not want to allow sell unsettled Wayne Rooney to Stamford Bridge.

The Special One Will An Offer To BVB & Lewandowski That They Both Can't Refuse I See 30Million In Total To BVB & 180k a week To Mr Robert He'll Be In SW6 By The 14th Of July

Since Lewandowski turned down Real Madrid, I dont think he s interested in any other club except Bayern. So its essentially a stalemate between him and Dortmund in which he has the upper hand. If they dont sell him, he ll go to Bayern for free the next season, and his addition to such a supersaturated team like Bayern is not going to improve them significantly. So they should just sell him for the 25 mill and trust in Klopp's ability to find new talents.

I don't care. Asking as we get Ronaldo.

The issue is a bit more complex... RL is not a dummy... He is, however, upset with BVB's management because the gentlemen's agreement was that RL could leave to Bayern at the end of the season. Unfortunately for both sides, things got "complicated" when Bayern triggered Goetze's buy out clause - now BVB refuses to give up RL to their rival. My sources are also telling me that when RL had asked BVB a couple of years ago for a higher contract, they snubbed him. That did not sit well with RL and his agents because RL "delivered" when it counted, yet he was still making way less money than some bench players (RL's salary is like 1.5 million/year). BVB know they made a mistake by not restructuring RL's contract earlier, and even though they offered 4.5 million recently, it is too late now. Trouble is that RL wants to go to Bayern and BVB want to sell him abroad. Either way, the relationship is ruined, anyway because I know for a fact that Watzke and RL had a verbal agreement RL could leave.

big football fan but who hell is this guy???

Is there some sort of competition going on amongst the press to see which paper can link Chelsea with the most strikers in the shortest time? If there is than the DM must be well in the lead as over the last month or so they have linked the club with Falcao, Jovetic, Hulk, Cavani, Rooney and now Lewandowski.

I don't understand why lewandowski, with one year left on his contract failed to know that he has his club over a barrel. He has ALL the power in his situation. It's not hard to understand why. must be a dummy in which case i wouldn't want him at my club. Plus you know his heart is in germany.

CFC83, Warrington, 6/14/13, 4:22 PM That was great I literally lol

please stop the lies.....he'll stay at Dortmund, then move to Bayern on a free,he has no interest in any other team,
