Real Madrid v Manchester United: Jose Mourinho says his next job on leaving ... - Telegraph.co.uk

Despite long-term speculation that he will replace Sir Alex Ferguson as United manager, Mourinho claims that is unlikely.

"No, I don't believe so," Mourinho said. "I think we have to end our career at the same time – him at 90 and me at 70.

"I want to finish at 70, so I still have 20 years to go. If I have 20 years to go, it is because I am enjoying as much as my first day."

Real's failure to compete with Barcelona in the La Liga this term has been the major factor in Mourinho's job being under threat.

But he insists that it is too early to judge his performance this term.

"We have four different competitions to play this season and we have already won the Super Cup," Mourinho said. "We are losing the league, but we take part in the cup and Champions League where we can win or not.

"I have always said we will wait until the end and, at the end, we can assess the season.

"Some great clubs and managers have never won this competition. Real has won 9 European Cups and I have won 2, but myself and Real want to win a tenth.

"I want to win a third and I will strive to win my third until it comes.

"If that is this year, good, if not, then next year. I am confident in my work and I don't think I will end my career with two Champions Leagues."
