Willian knows he will not be able to walk straight into the Chelsea first team, but is determined to make his mark at Stamford Bridge and cement a place at the 2014 World Cup with hosts Brazil.

Despite a deal having also been agreed with rivals Tottenham from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, the 25-year-old opted to instead join the Blues under new manager Jose Mourinho.

It is an opportunity the creative forward intends to meet full-on as he looks to force his way into contention with the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Juan Mata, Ramires, Andre Schurrle and Kevin De Bruyne as he stakes his claim for a spot in the Brazil national team next summer.

In an interview with Brazilian media outlet Globo Esporte, Willian said: 'I know that I haven't secured my spot here, but I will do my best to achieve that place, while respecting the other players.

'I will train, play and do my best to get the trust of the manager and of the fans.

'There is no doubt English football is very big, with huge visibility. I hope that helps me to be called up for the national team - but of course that depends on me.

'I will have to play and prove I deserve that spot. I first have to become a regular starter, then play well and be called up [by Brazil], this is my goal.'

All the tricks of the trade: Willian shows off his close control and shooting abilities in training

Chelsea have long tracked Willian, with Mourinho, who returned to Stamford Bridge earlier this summer, accepting the player would 'need a bit of time to express himself' following the transition to the English game.

Willian is relishing the challenges ahead after finally securing his dream move.

'Things just happened. Chelsea came with an offer and everyone knows that I wanted to play for the club since I was at Shakhtar,' he added.

'It shook me, but I didn't think twice. As both presidents (Suleyman Kerimov and Roman Abramovich) are friends, that helped too. It was a very easy negotiation.

'The Brazilians (at Chelsea) called me, especially David Luiz, who told me to come quickly. I was very happy to have them around and they will certainly help me a lot.

'I wanted to play at Chelsea, even more so now with Jose Mourinho, who is the best at what he does.

'When I had a day off, I came to watch the club's games, so I am more than happy for having made this transfer become true.'

mata..hazard.. watever that germain name is.. he will b a flop

All this man is interested in is,,,,,,, Money Money Money .Otherwise he would have signed for spurs and played every week I just don't think that's going to happen at Chelsea do you ?

Should be a doddle getting in that Brazil first team in his positon with: Oscar, Ganso, Hulk, Kaka, Lucas Moura, Bernard, Giuliano, Ronaldinho et al

Still don't get this transfer.

He looks like the new Gervinho.. Fancy hair-do, but rubbish at football.. He's also a total mercenary, so cannot be trusted. He's only seeking to advance himself, and is using Chelsea as a stepping stone to a big club. He will disappear in some low-key loan deal and we will never hear from him again.. Next...

He wants to be a starter with Brazil over Oscar. Joins the club Oscar plays for. - Utd4ever, Manchester, United Kingdom, 10/9/2013 16:57 ------------- Commonsense, as the same Brazilian scouts will be running the rule over all Chelsea's Brazilian quartet:)

Willian is by far the best technically gifted player to have come from Brazil. He is an amazing dribbling skill to take on any defenders as well as creating opportunity for his team to score goals. He is a good addiction to Chelsea as we are ready to face the challenge for trophies and glories on all fronts. In order to do that, Chelsea needs all the players to be available as the season is arduous and long with the players committed to playing for the club as well as for their countries. I hope we do not sustain too many injuries to the players in the process. Still we have capable and talented players to cover any position as and when it is required.

brilliant player ...

He sounds like a good man, and is a talented player, but he needs to put his personal goals to one side and put the club before everything else, once he shows passion for the club and team on the pitch there will be no choice but to call him up. But if he's only in it for himself using Chelsea as a platform then he will find it harder to succeed. But I know Jose wont let that happen and I know he will do well. Good luck Willian.
