Chelsea fear Marco van Ginkel has suffered a cruciate ligament injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season after he was taken off at Swindon in their 2-0 Capital One Cup win at Swindon on Tuesday night.

Van Ginkel tried to play on after suffering the injury in the first half but was replaced by Ramires – also taken off at half-time with injury – midway through the first half.

Chelsea assistant first team coach Steve Holland said: 'It's too early to say, but it doesn't look good for Marco.

'We'll have to wait for the results of the scan, but we have at least two casualties from this evening.'

Van Ginkel returned to London with the team and will have a scan at the club's Cobham training centre today.

The Dutch midfielder, signed from Vitesse Arnhem in the summer, fears his injury is serious enough to rule him out for several months.

Ramires is also a huge doubt for the Barclays Premier League clash at north London rivals Tottenham after suffering a suspected hip/gluteal injury in the first half.

The Brazilian midfielder, who scored a second brilliant goal at the County Ground with a chip over Wes Foderingham, was replaced by John Terry at half-time.

That's horrible! I hope it's not a meniscus injury. ACL is bad but replaceable if you've got the $$. A meniscus can never grow back or be replaced.

Man Up, you little girl.

I bet you sniff the odd bike seat don't you?

Get better soon! True blue ! - cfcprotocol, london, 24/09/2013 22:29 What the hell??? True blue? He's been there 5 minutes!!

Horrible..I hate Chelski as a club but would never wish any player to go through any injury and especially like that!! Fingers crossed to see him fit again as soon a possible!!
