New Chelsea centre forward Samuel Eto'o has revealed he hated Jose Mourinho before working alongside him at Inter Milan.

While Eto'o was at Barcelona the Catalan club had many run ins with Mourinho in his first spell at Stamford Bridge and the striker admitted he said he would never play for the Portuguese.

However, when they joined forces at Inter Milan in 2009-2010 the Italian side won the Treble and the 32-year-old's opinion of Mourinho changed markedly.

'Before meeting at Inter, we didn't know each other personally, so our relationship was tense,' Eto'o told The Sun. 'I even said one time that I'd never play for a club where Jose was coach.

'But God knows best. He wanted to show me that I was wrong and today Jose is a friend. Now he's my coach again.'

Eto'o arrived at Chelsea for 7million from Anzhi Makhachkala at the end of the transfer window following the club's failed summer-long pursuit of Wayne Rooney.

The Cameroonian has occasionally been accused of being a problematic influence, which contributed to his departure from Barcelona in 2009 but under Mourinho at Inter his commitment was unwavering as he often played out of position, wide on the right.

Eto'o also revealed that he was strongly linked with Chelsea in 2006, before Andriy Shevchenko was eventually signed for 30m.

"But God knows best"... Oh dear!!

A free signing with £7m wages in one season

Eto has made a good point that a rich man never loses his love of money so hopefully eto will play well so he can earn himself another lucrative contract. Eto did amazing at Barca and Inter so hopefully he can play half as well at chelsea.

Its just a shame Chelsea didnt give Lukaku a chance in the first team as he was the one striker who was scoring goals pre season and yet the first two games of the season they started with two different strikers, he was left on the bench and neither Torres or Ba had an impact. It seems it doesnt matter what nationality you are, younger players do not get given a chance in the Premier league as everyone wants instant success

l still hate him !!!

Water under the bride move on... welcome Eto'o to Chelsea. - VChelseaclark, High Wycombe -------------------------------------------- beautifully, just plain beautifully said!!!

He was a free signing.

Hopefully Eto'o will prove to be the kick in the butt Torres needs and it will get him kick started and firing on all cylinders!!!! If we can find 2 x 20+ goal a season goal scorers we will be there or thereabouts in all competitions this season. Fingers crossed for tomorrow as we have a tough game at Goodison - hopefully Willian and Mata will both get a start and get the seasons up and running with a couple of goals and 3 points! C'mon you Blues!

Don't worry, you will learn to hate him again!

Not much of a prediction that they will see him off in a year, with a one year contract.
