Loic Remy's loan move to Newcastle in jeopardy as Queens Park Rangers only ... - Telegraph.co.uk

Newcastle are suffering a series of setbacks in the transfer market as director of football Joe Kinnear continues to struggle to land his first signing since his controversial return to the club two months ago.

A £7m bid for Lyon's Bafetimbi Gomis was rejected last weekend, while manager Alan Pardew's long-standing interest in Aston Villa's Darren Bent does not look like it will lead to his arrival after Kinnear said he was only willing to pay £2m for a player whose asking price is around £6m.

With Kinnear also making it clear to Bent's agent they were not willing to pay the England international anything close to the £65,000-a-week he earns at Villa, Bent now seems certain to join Fulham instead.
