Yohan Cabaye will miss Newcastle's Capital One Cup tie at Morecambe on Wednesday as he continues to refuse to play for the club.
Arsenal target Cabaye had already refused to play in Newcastle's opening Premier League games - against Manchester City and West Ham - and sits out the first cup tie of the season.
Toon boss Alan Pardew said: 'He either stays or he goes but he will not play tomorrow that's for sure. The answer to this is not simple. He is either going to be sold and we have to replace him in the window we have left or he will say.

'As the manager of Newcastle United I have to protect him but the first thing I have to protect is club, and trust me that is first on the agenda while I am here.'
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants his fellow Frenchman at the Emirates Stadium and bid 10million for the 27-year-old.
Let me go: Cabaye played no part against Manchester City and West Ham and will not face Morecambe
The Magpies, who paid Lille 5m for cabaye in 2011, are braced for another bid for a player they value at closer to 20m.
Wigan's James MCCarthy, rated around 15m, has been touted as a potential replacement for Cabaye if Arsenal meet the asking price.
Pardew added: 'I respect the opinions our fans have but I don't want to comment any further. There is no update I am going to give you. There are no further offers.
Better to try and get Ozil for 40m than Kebab for 20m.
