The 29-year-old is wanted to play at right back by Laurent Blanc, however he would prefer to extend his contract with the Blues.

Daniele De Rossi is also thought to be close to signing for Chelsea, as Jose Mourinho looks to build a strong side worthy of competing for the Premier League title this season.
The combative midfielder played for Italy at the Confederations Cup and is set for an extended break after the tournament.
De Rossi, 29, is likely to cost the Blues around 11million to procure and he would take Oriol Romeu's place in the squad.

Brazilian defender Wallace, who has just joined Chelsea, could also move on loan to Roma as part of any potential De Rossi deal.

If we get DE rossi, we are going to sweep teams apart.

De Rossi would be a perfect signing then mikel will be out. We have amazing young players but we also need some leaders. We have jt & lamps still, David Luiz is showing leadership but de Rossi would be great a true warrior. When Rooney arrives and Burma from sporting we are set to go.

Didn't expect him to leave in the first place. He is a key figure at Chelsea and is one of the more experienced ones. Not that bad of a defender too.

As a United fan if Chelsea do buy De rossi I am going to be very worried because Chelseas midfield is far far superior to Uniteds.

Would be a great signing, but i dont think Wallace should go, Jose should give this a chance to compete with Dave in the RB spot, we really only have him as our number one. Should he get injured we have no backup. Brana is really a CB, not RB even thou he is a option. This kid Wallace has potential, and he will be future RB in the Brazil set up!! CFC FOR LIFE!!

De rossi in our fold would be a completion of the midfield. I always thought of him as a true talent in whatever form or fashion and would make a perfect fit for the type of player to mentor as well as provide experience in the one position where we have not found a suitable replacement. If we do sign him, its back to 4-3-3 and lots of goals. Comon you blues!

sell mikel, ba, and some1 else and put in a bid for ramos or thiago......mourhinos teams are always built around a strong defence....terry is good but getting old...dont think he can play 38 games a season plus the cups and the champions league...ramos or silva would provide stiff competition and make a solid defence. ..with rossi joining weve got an experienced player....a future captain.....
