Arjen Robben has warned Arsenal that Bayern Munich are stronger than the team that lost the Champions League final on penalties last season.

The German league leaders face the Gunners this week and are aiming to win the tournament before Pep Guardiola takes over next season.

Bayern lost two Champions League finals in the last three years, as they also went 2-0 down to Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan in 2010 and the hurt of last season's defeat to former club Chelsea still lingers with the German side.

Speaking to The Sun, Robben said: 'It's very strange how things can change so quickly in football.

'In the end Chelsea made it. If you look at the final again we should never have lost it — but we did. We've improved from last year, new good players coming in and everything is going well.

'We showed last season that we can be up there with the best teams in Europe so we want to be in the final at Wembley.'

Robben believes the pressure is on Arsenal after going eight seasons without winning a trophy and warned the barren spell will continue while they sell their best players to rival clubs.

He added: 'The last eight years — no trophies. That says it all. If you look around at the moment there are some teams in England that are maybe stronger than Arsenal.

'If you see there are always players leaving and when they leave, at that moment, they are the most important players or the best players and, if you keep losing these players, then every time you have to try to build up again.

'Mr Wenger has shown that he can do it.

'He's a great manager, he's shown that by improving young players, but the trophies are also important.

'Eight years without a trophy is a very, very long time.'

All Robben had to say was, ' we're better than Blackburn'.

Since Robben has spent so much time in the rehab centre, on the massage table, in the therapist's office and on the players bench, Bayern has indeed been much better.

can't wait to see arsenal get destroyed! haha

"yeah right.. so good...couldn't beat woeful chelsea - maarco74 , London" - Neither could Barcelona though so your point is moot.

@nyirenkyi (13:52): Isn't that what he told van Marwijk? Or was it, "Hou je smoel (bek, waffel, whatever)".

Arsenal will beat Bayern at the emirates 2-1,maybe then lose the return leg woefully..

more bluster from a little money grabbing Dutchman ,a little breeze knocks him over ,then a miracle occurs and he runs away having got the foul ,odious little man
