Paris Saint-Germain will attempt to see off competition from both Manchester clubs and Real Madrid by offering Ashley Cole a 150,000-a-week three-year deal worth 23million.

The super-rich French club hope to tempt the 31-year-old after Sportsmail revealed the England defender is ready to walk out at the end of the season after failing to agree terms on a new contract.

Chelsea could offload Cole when the transfer window re-opens in January if his understudy Ryan Bertrand, called up to the England squad for this week's World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland, continues his remarkable rise.

Cole is a victim of Chelsea's new policy for players over the age of 30.

If Cole, 31, and Frank Lampard, 34, who is also out of contract next summer, quit Stamford Bridge, it will be confirmation that Roman Abramovich is breaking up his Champions League-winning team.

The Russian told the players they were directly responsible for the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas last March and warned them their futures were on the line before they went on to win the FA Cup and European Cup.

Despite their success, Abramovich's threat appears to be real after the club's failure to match the expectations of Cole and Lampard, during talks.

PSG are confident they have the ambition and resources to win Cole's signature. The defender was called 'the best left-back in the world' by manager Carlo Ancelotti earlier this month when asked about the club's interest in his former player.

PSG have a strong English connection on the backroom staff, where Ancelotti has recruited former Stamford Bridge employees Paul Clement, Claude Makelele and Nick Broad.

Might make sense if we really are going to go for Falcao!!

Great value for money at 23M - for a full back!? lolololol. Not only has the game gone mad but it's customers are now mad too!

Let's hope that Ancelotti gets to him first. He's certainly not needed in Manchester.

The prospect of Ashley Cole tweeting in French - frightening!

Good player but just can't stand the little pleb. Council house maybe..would fit in great there.

Only 150,000 per week? No chance! Just forget it!

Cole would be the last person to show a club loyalty. He is only interested in himself.

BEST PLAYER IN THE ENGLAND TEAM, GOOD LUCK TO HIM.

Cole and over rated? Are you kidding?

You don't have to like cole personally but you do know who ever buys him will get great value for the money. Not something you can say about a lot of players these days
