Robin van Persie has taken a cheeky swipe at Arsenal after claiming the champions he surrounds himself with at Manchester United have made him feel like an excited child again.

The Holland striker left north London in a 24million deal in the summer and has already hit 22 goals for the Barclays Premier League leaders.

The move is still hurts those he left behind, but speaking at a warm weather training camp in Doha, Van Persie insists he has no regrets about the switch.

He said: 'Arsenal are a great club but after eight years sometimes you feel that you need a new challenge. If you look at the last couple of months it explains it all. I'm seeing things again that I didn't see for a long time. All these guys here know how to win and become champions.

'When I came to Arsenal years ago, I saw things from Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry I'd never seen before. Now I'm seeing those things again and that makes me really happy. It's like a kid in a sweet shop. It's like, "This is good, this is having fun, this is enjoying yourself".

'All these little things added together make a big difference. It makes me feel that I'm surrounded by champions.'

Van Persie's hot streak in front of goal has more than begun paying back his transfer fee but he claims to still see space for improvement.

He added: 'It should have been 10 games, 14 or 15 goals. At least four or five I shouldn't have missed. It's not going really well. It is going well but if you start to believe it's going well, you're going down.

'If I look at all those games, I should have done better in most of them because I had more chances than just one chance and one goal.'

YES.....YOU CAN`T BEAT 250,000 PER WEEK !!

Zenden,Manchester .....here we go again typical Utd fan not being able to accept the fact that they were not good enough to win the title last season. They did well to come second, I thought they over achieved. The reason it was so close was because City, unaccountably, dropped a lot of points, when looking home and dry, letting Urd in for a close finish. I'm no City fan but they were the best team last season and deserved the title. Also Wenger did have a choice, he could have insisted that RVP stayed for the length of his contract, if he had the Dutchmen would have scored a similar number of goals as he has for Utd, many of Arsenal' draws and 2-1 defeats would have been turned around because he would not have squandered the numerous chances that Giroud has. With Wilshere and Carzola behind him plus the emerging Walcott Arsenal could be where Utd are, it's only his goals that have Put Utd in the lead, despite what the DM says. Instead Wenger took the money.

Well said, you cant beat a bit of honesty. The other "stars" at Arsenal are sure to follow. Start winning again Mr Wenger and you may hold on to them. At the moment youre not filling anyone with confidence

I`VE TRIED GETTING ONTO THE LIVERPOOL ARTICLES, BUT THEY`RE FOREVER CLOGGED UP WITH BITTER EVERTONIANS AND THEIR MONEY UNITED BEDFELLOWS....CAN SOMEONE HAVE A WORD WITH THEM PLEASE ?!

EVERYTHING I WRITE IS BASED ON FACT AND DATA...FACT !

Greg, Norn Iron, United Kingdom, 22/1/2013 16:17 .... Arsenal fans have their own version: he's called airbornespursvirus or something. Surprised he hasn't cropped up.

As a neutral who reads all the football, I can't help but notice there seems a very obsessed and sad person who posts on everything Man U. Sam Town, you need to get out more or grow up.

Hey Robin, I was was gutted you left us for Manu but I cannot fathom an alternative reason as to why you would stay. You are absolutely right, we are a bunch of losers, which unfortunately stems from out loser Manager (claiming 4th is as good as winning a TROPHY) attitude. Good luck man, at the end of the day when your career is over at least you would have won something.Wenger, and the BOD will aslo be happy as they have got loads of money!!!!

abdullah, London, 22/1/2013 15:23 ... Maybe if you read all the posts rather than a select few you'll realise not all of us are 'hating on RVP'. Is that even correct English??

Yep £220,000 does make a difference
