Thanks for all your suggestions on the last blog of 2012. Here are a few highlights from this week.
The magic of the Cup
Liverpool and Manchester United fans are campaigning for cheaper away seats at Premier League games and Manchester City sent back nearly a third of their tickets for their match at Arsenal on Sunday. If the price of football continues to escalate, more people will have to employ the tactics used by the Mansfield fans above.
The third round of the FA Cup brought out the enthusiasm in football fans across the country. These guys stuck around after Brighton's defeat of Newcastle to get on the telly. ITV didn't cut away to an advert and miss any goals, but their editing wasn't exactly seamless.
The Cup has taken a battering in recent years, but Luis Suárez did his best to keep things interesting. The drama of the weekend was all too much for this mascot.
Goals of the third round
Robin van Persie knows how to bring down a football. His late equaliser against West Ham was as good as any in the third round of the Cup. Kieran Gibbs's volley, Clint Dempsey's looping header and Giorgos Karagounis's dipping strike from outside the box were all outstanding.
Craig Gardner blasted one into the top corner for Sunderland, Victor Moses used both feet well to set up Chelsea's win at Southampton and Brighton knocked Newcastle out with a cheeky finish from Dean Hammond and a lovely nutmeg from Will Hoskins (which looks even better from this angle).
These goals weren't scored in the FA Cup but they deserve some love anyway: Leighton Baines's rocket, Cristiano Ronaldo's floated free-kick, Raheem Sterling's lob, Van Persie's cool finish against Wigan and Guly do Prado's athletic own goal.
Dancing with the stars
The festive season seemed to bring out the best in people. Phil Taylor was overjoyed by his 16th world title and, although he didn't sign a new contract, Theo Walcott took some time out to arrange a new goal celebration.
For the best dances in sport you have to cross the Atlantic. Indianapolis Colts defensive end Robert Mathis can boast this odd effort, Frank Gore excels in robotic moves and the reformed Destiny's Child will struggle to match the struts of this young man. Even the fans are more charismatic in the US, as proved by this lady and this top-hatted man
What a catch
Bralon Addison doesn't need to stand on his feet to catch an up-and-under. He can bounce off a team-mate and still take the ball safely. DeVante Parker and Sidney Rice know how hold on to a ball when under intense pressure, but little can beat this for sheer agility.
Perhaps this one from Kris Dunham, which looks even better with multiple angles?
I'll get my hat
