Premier League and El Clasico; Live updates and scoresLive - BBC Sport

Spanish football writer Andy West: "Real Madrid might have effectively given up on retaining the league title, but tonight could be a first step towards salvaging some silverware from their disappointing season in the Copa del Rey.

"It won't be easy. Jose Mourinho's side are missing five regulars through injury and suspension, including captain Iker Casillas and central defensive pairing Pepe and Sergio Ramos.

"Hoping to take advantage of his opponents' decimated ranks is Lionel Messi, who has already scored 49 goals for club and country this season and is just one behind equalling Alfredo di Stefano's all-time Clasico record of 18.

"At the other end, Cristiano Ronaldo is in sensational form and has scored in each of his last six Clasico appearances - even Messi has never done that."
