A friend of the telly judge said yesterday: "Tulisa was shocked and upset when she heard what happened.
"She was worried that Danny might have been badly hurt but she's been reassured he'll be fine."
Tulisa, who has been in Marbella with pals, will fly home today.
The brawl kicked off early yesterday after Simpson, 26, got into a scuffle with a fellow customer queueing for food at a takeaway.
Witnesses said the Newcastle United defender hit the man, in his late 40s or 50s, knocking him to the ground. Simpson then left and climbed into a taxi but was dragged out by a different man and punched.
He lay bleeding and unconscious on the street for about 15 minutes until an ambulance arrived and took him to hospital.
A witness said Simpson looked like he had "had a few" when he arrived at the takeaway, adding: "He was definitely drunk.
"Then him and this guy started getting aggressive with each other.
"They started scuffling. The man was pushing and shoving Danny and he just lost it. He punched him and he dropped to the ground.
"Someone pulled him off the man. Everyone in the takeaway was saying, 'Danny, you can't do that you've got to leave'."
Simpson did leave the Rice Flamebar and Grill in Manchester city centre but only after another heated exchange with two off-duty bouncers. The witness added: "Danny got in a taxi outside but the two bouncers rushed over and opened the door.
"There was a girl there trying to calm the situation and telling the taxi to take Danny home but one of the bouncers dragged him out then punched him in the face.
"He dropped to the floor and was half on the pavement, half on the road with blood pouring from his mouth.
"He was in a bad way. It looked like he'd been knocked out. Everyone crowded round him. He was still breathing but not responsive.
"Luckily he'd landed in the recovery position so we didn't move him.
"We didn't know how badly injured he was at this point so didn't want to risk it." Ex-Manchester United youth player Simpson had earlier been in the Circle Club with Old Trafford stars Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck.
It is thought he left the nightspot, a favourite with celebrities, on his own at about 4am to get food.
A second witness said Simpson was clearly drunk when he arrived at the Rice, adding: "He was hammered and was mouthing off. Danny was making sure everyone knew who he was.
"He kept hassling girls and making a real nuisance of himself."
Another takeaway customer said: "I heard a bang and turned to see Simpson had punched this bloke, who fell to the ground.
"He was about to punch him a second time but we jumped in and dragged him off. He left the restaurant and then I looked through the window and saw him on the floor with blood all over his face." An ambulance spokesman confirmed a man was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary.
Police said they went to the takeaway after reports of an assault but a man with minor injuries did not wish to make a complaint.
Simpson yesterday tweeted he was spending the day with his daughter.
Meanwhile, Tulisa was enjoying the final night of her holiday with pals in Marbella. Friend Aaron Evers tweeted: "Last night with our girl Tulisa. What a brilliant mini break."
Simpson's spokesman said: "Danny's fine and will be back training tomorrow." Former N-Dubz singer Tulisa began dating Simpson in November.
