Ashley Cole wants his England and Chelsea colleague Frank Lampard to be offered a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

The 34-year-old midfielder struck the decisive goal during England's 2-1 triumph over Brazil.

England's left back, who won his 100th cap in the clash at Wembley told the BBC 'of course' he wanted Lampard to stay.

England boss Roy Hodgson hopes that even if Lampard does leave Chelsea, he remains close to home.

He believes 94-cap Lampard can be the next England player to top 100 and wants him to continue inspiring his country right through to the World Cup in Rio in 2014.

Hodgson said: 'He was excellent. I think he can (reach 100). I hope we'll keep Frank in England. It's not for me to discuss his future with his current club, that's for him and his club.

'I know he'll have a lot of offers if Chelsea do decide they're prepared to let him go.

'I'm rather hoping we'll still see him, if not in England then Europe which will make my task easier. If he goes further afield and follows David (Beckham to the MLS), it complicates matters but it doesn't mean your career is over with England.

'But the further afield you go, the more problematic it gets for the media and the England manager to follow you.'

Cole was taken off at half-time because of a slight hamstring problem.

Hodgson said: 'I wasn't intending to take Ashley off at half-time but he was feeling a problem in his hamstring, which may actually be coming from his back.

'He would have soldiered on if it was a qualifier but I didn't want to send him back to Chelsea any more injured.'

Although England were taking on Brazil at Wembley there was a strong Chelsea theme to the night.

As well as Cole earning his 100th cap, Gary Cahill gifted Brazil their first goal by overrunning the ball.

Lampard scored with a precise right-footed shot in the second half, while Oscar was Brazil's finest player on the night.

David Luiz captained the side and Ramires was also in action for the Samba stars.

Brazil did not look like SAMBA boys except OSCAR. He is real class and probably most gifted player at Brazil National team. He will be BIG BIG star.
